How often should I have my carpets or upholstery cleaned?
The general rule for carpets is at least every 12 months. For upholstery, we recommend every 12 to 18 months. Of course, this is based on average or typical use. If your carpets or upholstery experience heavy use or soiling, it may be advisable to have them cleaned more frequently.
How long does it take to clean my carpets or upholstery?
It depends on how much carpeting or upholstery you wish to have cleaned and how soiled they are. On average though, you would expect a small package ( 2 rooms and a hall) to take about an hour to complete. A larger package (5 rooms, a hall, and a staircase) would take from 1.5 to 2.5 hours to complete.
A sofa, on average would take about an hour to clean whereas a 5 seat sectional would probably take about 2 to 2.5 hours to complete.
How long does it take for my carpets or upholstery to dry once it has been cleaned?
It depends on the amount of air circulation, but, generally, carpets will take about 6 to 8 hours to dry. Upholstery will take between 2 to 5 hours to dry.
How long should I stay off the carpets after they have been cleaned?
As long as your footwear is clean, you can walk on your damp carpets, if you have to.
However, we advise caution when stepping from damp surfaces to hard surfaces (wood, tile, laminate) as there is a significant slip hazard.
How do I prepare for a cleaning?
On the day of your cleaning we would ask that:
- All personal items are picked up off the floor of the rooms we are cleaning
- Please run the vacuum over the traffic areas of the rooms to be cleaned. Nothing extensive, just enough to pick up any loose hair or larger debris.
- Please ensure that the entrance to the home is clear of boots, shoes, etc as our technician will need to carry equipment through on his arrival
- We kindly ask that, if required, snow and ice are removed from the approach to your home to ensure that our technician can safely carry equipment from his vehicle to your home.
